Kennon Guglielmo ‘88 is president and majority stockholder of EControls, Inc., an engineering and product development firm specializing in the multidisciplinary area of control and instrumentation. EControls is an OEM system supplier to Caterpillar, John Deere, Detroit Diesel, Ford, General Motors, and Linde. Before starting EControls, Guglielmo worked at both the Southwest Research Institute and Sandia National Laboratories. While at Southwest, he designed and built a compressed natural gas electronic fuel control system, and managed many other projects requiring controls expertise. New Members
Paul Park is a Director assigned to the Chief Engineer’s Office on staff to the Vice President of Engineering. He has over 31 years experience in advanced aircraft development and predesign, having worked on the F-16, F-22, National Aero-Space Plane, AFX/A-12, F-16 Derivatives, and JSF programs, as well as leading numerous advanced aircraft predesign studies. Paul spent ten years on the F-35/Joint Strike Fighter program, leading configuration development and air vehicle integration teams through the Concept Demonstration Program, the System Design and Development (SDD) proposal, and the first three-and-a-half years of the SDD contract. He also served as Chief Engineer on two Advanced Development Program projects. Paul earned a Degree of Engineer from Stanford University in 1977, an MS in engineering from Princeton University in 1975, and a Bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1974. He has earned multiple company awards and was a member of the team of engineers that received the 2002 AIAA Aircraft Design Award for the X-35. Paul and his wife, Mary Kay, have lived in Fort Worth, Texas since 1978. They have three grown children, all graduating from Texas A&M, two receiving both Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University.
Kathy Lynn is the Vice President and Chief Representative of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) in Houston, Texas. She has over 18 years experience in corporate finance, project finance, and structured finance specializing in the energy and power industries. Kathy, class of ’79, graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University, and an MBA in finance from the University of Houston. She also passed the CPA exam and is a candidate for a CPA license. Kathy manages the Houston Energy and Natural Resources representative office for SMBC. She is responsible for analyzing the credit, reserve and business risk of potential clients and presents new opportunities to credit committee. She also provides support during credit approval process. In addition, Kathy manages five finance professionals and one administrative assistant. She is responsible for developing new business and maintaining relationships with current clients through an active calling program. She is also responsible for meeting the annual budget and complying with credit monitoring and credit administration requirements.
Michael Smith is a Chief of Structural Dynamics at Bell Helicopter Textron. Since 1980, Smith has worked extensively in the areas of rotorcraft dynamics, vibration reduction, and crashworthiness. In 1988, he served as a Designated Engineering Representative in structures and power plant for the Federal Aviation Administration. Michael is a Texas A&M University Alumni. He earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering in 1979 and a Masters of Engineering in mechanical engineering from University of Texas in 1984. He holds many awards, including the Textron Chairman’s Award in 2004 and 2006, the Lawrence D. Bell Pioneer Award for Innovation Excellence in 2003 and 2005, and the AHS International’s Harry T. Jenson Award in 2001 and 2003. In addition, he holds thirteen patens and has authored eighteen technical papers.
David J. Pierpoline is an operations manager for BP and is responsible for BP’s natural gas field and plant operations across the southern United States. He manages over 600 employees and contractors across 5 states. From 2000 to 2002, David was an operations manager for South Houston at BP and was responsible for 10 petrochemical and refinery plants within a large complex facility. During this time, he led the delivery of one of BP’s three “Vision” projects to test cutting edge manufacturing technology and organization concepts. In 2007, David served as the Safety & Operations Director and Operations Excellence Director, and in 2008, he became the operations manager for North America Gas. David worked with petrochemical plants, and engineering mechanical equipment for Amoco Corporation worldwide for 13 years before moving to BP. Since then, he has held six positions including Director Western Hemisphere and Safety & Operations Director. David received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University and an M.B.A. from the University of Houston
Eugene Janulis is a technical director at 3M Company. He has spent 26 years at 3M in various technical positions and currently directs a 180-person global lab organization for 3M’s Electrical Markets Division. He is responsible for new product development, research, and development and technical service. Eugene earned a B.S. in chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1979 and a Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Illinois in 1983. In addition, he is the inventor/co-inventor on 14 U.S. patents and is an enthusiastic supporter and sponsor of senior design projects at Texas A&M University.
