Dr. Alison J. Berry ‘76 Scholarship in Mechanical
Engineering
This scholarship was endowed by Eben W. Berry, Jr. ‘43
in remembrance of Alison Berry ‘76. Student recipients
can continue to receive their scholarship as long as the
eligibility requirements are met. Students who elect to
pursue a graduate degree in mechanical engineering at
Texas A&M may continue to receive this scholarship for
an additional two years.
Clayton T. Burger ‘00 Scholarship in Mechanical
Engineering
This scholarship will help mechanical engineering transfer
students who participate in varsity or intramural athletics
or a student organization associated with athletics. Burger
graduated in 2000 and began working for ExxonMobil.
In 2003, Burger hit a golf ball 402 yards to win $80,000
in the “Longest Drive” contest. With a portion of his
winnings, Burger has endowed this scholarship. His gift
was matched by ExxonMobil.
Sally and Ray Bowen ‘58 Fellowship I and II
This fellowship was endowed by Sallie and Don Davis ‘61 to recognize Ray Bowen, a former president of Texas
A&M University. It will provide one or more fellowships
to full-time students pursuing a graduate degree in the department.
Marie M. and James H. Galloway, Jr. ‘29 Endowed
Scholarship in Mechanical Engineering
Recipients of this scholarship will be full-time students,
maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher, and be pursuing an
undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering.
Mary Ann and Gordon Gibson ‘55 Scholarship in
Mechanical Engineering
The Gibsons’ gift will provide one or more scholarships
to full time students in the department. The Gibsons’ have requested that recipients be in the top 25% of
their graduating class, be a U.S. and Texas resident,
have demonstrated leadership skills, and participate in
recognized University activities or organizations.
K. R. Ramamani Undergraduate Thesis Award
This scholarship was established by professor K. R.
Rajagopal, a faculty member in the Department of
Mechanical Engineering. The award honors his father and
will provide assistance to a mechanical engineering student
entering their senior year in the honors program and plans
to complete an undergraduate honors thesis during their
senior year at Texas A&M University.
Mollie & Jim Schulze ’50 Scholarship in Mechanical
Engineering
This scholarship will benefit undergraduate students
pursuing a mechanical engineering degree. Recipients
must have graduated from a Texas high school in the top
10 % of their graduating class and be a U.S. resident. The
scholarship was established by Mollie and Jim Schulze of
Granbury, Texas.
Keith R. Slaughter ’49 Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for undergraduate students
pursuing a mechanical engineering degree. Recipients
must have freshman classification with preference given to
members of the Corps of Cadets.
Clara M. and Charles L. Tansil, Jr. ’43 Endowed Scholarship
Fund
This planned scholarship will benefit undergraduate
students pursuing a mechanical engineering degree.
Recipients must have junior or senior classification and be
Texas residents.
Terrell D. Windham ‘64 Scholarship in Mechanical
Engineering
Dr. Martha Wood established this scholarship in
remembrance of Terrell Windham ‘64.
William M. Hays, Jr. ‘64 Memorial Scholarship in Mechanical Engineering
Bill Hays passed away in January following a long illness. He graduated with a B.S. in mechanical engineering in
1964. While at A&M, he served as first sergeant and commanding officer of Squadron Eight of the Corps of Cadets.
Hays joined the Marmon Mok Architectural Firm in 1971, leading the mechanical engineering department
and was named a partner in 1976. During his career, he worked on and produced some of Central Texas’s most
significant projects, including the San Antonio International Airport Development Project, the Alamodome,
One Riverwalk Place, the Texas A&M Recreational Sports building and numerous financial, medical, church and
governmental projects.
Hays was actively involved in his community, serving as president of the Comal ISD Board of Trustees, president
of Smithson Valley Athletic Booster Club, and vice-president of the Bulverde Volunteer Fire Department. He also
served as president for the American Society of Heating, Ventilating & Air Conditioning (HVAC), the Bexar Chapter
of Professional Engineers in Private Practice, the Prefreshman Engineering Program, as well as an accreditation
visitor for the national Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology.
Hays continued his involvement with Texas A&M by serving on the Chancellor’s Advisory Council and the department’s advisory
council. Hays was named a Distinguished Alumni of Texas A&M and Engineer Emeritus for Texas A&M Tau Beta Pi.
