Our faculty members represent diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise who share a common interest in mechanical engineering research and education.
The Department has eleven endowed chair and professorship faculty appointments. Texas A&M University has recognized two of our faculty as Regents Professors and two as University Distinguished Professors. Over the past several years, our faculty has served as principal investigators or co-investigators for over $7 million of externally funded research grants and contracts.
Many of our faculty are nationally recognized for their contributions in research and their service to the profession, and they have received numerous honors and distinctions. Most of our faculty are members in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), with many of them holding the rank of Fellow. They are also members of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE); the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE); the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE); the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA); the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), as well as many others. Over half of our faculty are editors or on the editorial board of national and international society journals. Our faculty members regularly publish in leading professional journals.
